I have a million thoughts flying through my scattered brain about what my first blog should be about. I also have a million thoughts about other things like my son’s senior pictures, the pile of farm book work that is currently staring at me from the “other” desk and what should I be making for supper. So where do I start with a first blog. I will start with a first for me. I started writing when other kids were running around on main street or out past bedtime. Don’t get me wrong, I did some of that too! Writing was therapeutic for me when I felt like I didn’t fit in, but I am jumping ahead. The reason I first became interested in writing is because great writers turned me on to reading. The very first greats to me were Laura Ingalls Wilder, Carolyn Keene, and Judy Blume, just to name a few. Another great in this list is Sophie Hahn. Sophie was not a writer, well not that I know of. Only those who hale from my hometown of little Butte, Nebraska will recognize her name. Sophie was the town librarian at the Davies Memorial Library for many years. When I first entered the library, she placed Little House on the Prairie in my hands. I discovered what it was like to fall in love with a book. Sophie had many other great recommendations after that first visit. How about you? I would love to hear about the first book that kept you turning pages or a librarian that kept you coming back!
